Cold Hardy Plants for Fall

Cold Hardy Plants for Fall

As the children go back to school and the cool air starts creeping in, it can be hard to see our summer flowers start to fade away. So what can you do to keep your yard bright and vibrant through the fall frosts?

We have the answer!

Here in the Metro Detroit area, we are a Zone 6, so there are a few plants which can survive the cold frosts, well into November.

Our first suggestion are of course, fall hardy mums!

A favorite of many during the fall, this daisy variety can withstand cold and even snow for quite some time! Coming in a variety of shades from pinks and purples to rusts, burgundy and gold, there is a mum everyone will like!

Our next suggestion is one most people think of for spring planting, but they thrive in the cool temps we see in fall.

Pansy!

Pansy can be a beautiful fall floral option that lasts you well through November or December, depending on the severity of the incoming winter weather.

Marigolds are also a wonderful option for both summer and fall to bring you color to your garden and home.

Don't let color get away from you as the weather cools off!
